Fly fishing in Grövelsjöfjällen
Lövåsgårdens Mountain Hotel is sandwiched between great waters, on both the Swedish and Norwegian sides of the border. River Storån, Hävlingen, River Grövlan, Femunden, Femundselva. The list goes on; with waters inhabited by the for fly fishermen always prized trout, char and grayling.
Because it is with a fly these rivers, streams and lakes should be fished, and with a large measure of respect and a small harvest of fish. “We can reap of the interest, but not of the capital”, as fly-guru Gunnar Westrin puts it. Therefore Lövåsgårdens Fjällhotell support the "Limit your kill"-initiative.

And it is for the experience and adventure we fish these waters; to witness with full concentration the fly floating up against the fish's position, only to see it vanish in a whirl. You raise the rod, the line tightens up and the surface explodes. The first run takes you by surprise, pulse racing, then slowly dropping and you can enjoy the spectacle of a golden, speckled trout dancing across the surface. A great revelation it is to see and feel the same trout recover his strength and slowly slide back into the water.
We fish in small groups, in areas that are rarely crowded. It gives us time to enjoy ourselves, time to discuss which fly to tie to the leader, perhaps correct our casting technique; and of course time to enjoy a delicious lunch, cooked on the Muurikka-pan over an open fire. If evening fishing is on the schedule maybe we enjoy dinner on the waterfront.
"If you do not like fishing in nature, do not come here"
